Showtime for MSY

The latest Boot Düsseldorf was organised from 21 to 29 January. MSY was present in Hall 16, where visitors were treated to presentations and information about the new Brenta 80 SRD and the 72-foot explorer sailing yacht currently under construction. Other highlights of our presence included a preview of a seventy-foot fast cruising sailing yacht which is due for completion in spring 2018. Our stand attracted lots of attention, and we met numerous prospective customers as well as many familiar faces from the global brokerage and boating industry. The expectation is that this will translate into major new orders for our brand in the near and medium term.

We expect our participation in the Palma Super Yacht Brokerage Show, which will take place from 28 April to 2 May 2017, to be equally successful. The Brenta 80 DC Cool Breeze will be one of the star attractions at this exhibition, Cool Breeze is now Listed with Fraser Yachts and actively for sale. Immediately after Palma, Cool Breeze will be Sailed to Santa Margherita near Portofino for the Vela Festival, where she will be exhibited from 7 to 11 May. We invite all interested parties and MSY fans to join us there!

MSY looks forward to meeting its partners and customers again at the upcoming shows, and we expect to have a great deal more to share about current and upcoming products in the near future.

Cool Breeze for sale
with Fraser Yachts

Launched in the summer of 2015, Cool Breeze was the first new yacht to be built by MSY. This Brenta 80 DC raised the bar for a premium quality fast cruising sloop, leveraging on Michael’s experience of practical boatbuilding and life at sea. Designed by Studio Brenta and Lorenzo Argento, Cool Breeze reintroduced the art of simplicity to the sailing yacht market. And now she is available for sale via Fraser Yachts.

A light displacement carbon performance yacht designed for fast passage cruising anywhere in the world, Cool Breeze accommodates six people and a captain. Her iconic interior was designed by world-renowned architect Sir David Chipperfield and beautifully finished by our yard. Moreover Cool Breeze is extremely easy to handle, and features simple, reliable and lightweight systems throughout. This lovely boat has already successfully covered 20,000 miles, including two trans-Atlantic crossings, and is ready to take her new owners on unforgettable adventures. .

Growing for the future

MSY’s vision for the future rests upon the twin pillars of major investments in a new construction facility (completed late last year and recently expanded) and an energetic new team. The state-of-the-art yard in Greifswald was officially opened on 15 December and has now been expanded with a new tempering oven/painting hall measuring 31 by 12.5 metres – the largest of its kind in northern Germany. The new oven will enable us to produce boats up to thirty metres in length and give us full control over the tempering of large components – crucial for quality.

Current developments and a plethora of new orders have also led MSY to implement a reorganisation designed to future-proof our growth ambitions. Johannes Malzahn was appointed MSY’s new managing director with full responsibility for all day-to-day business, while company owner Michael Schmidt stays on as supervisor, adviser and long-term investor. Johannes is a passionate sailor with a rich personal experience of boatbuilding, and joins the management team of purchasing manager Andreas Bock and marketing & sales director Tijl Hetterschijt, both keen yachtsmen and racers in their own right.

“These developments reflect the strong ambitions which our yard has set out for the future,” Johannes explains. “The new facility and reorganisation will enable us to increase output while guaranteeing the top-notch quality sailors expect from MSY.”
